Wow, wow, wow!
What a start to 2019!
We were amazed, shocked, delighted and over the moon to find out this week that we'd improved on our ranking of 9th best B&B in the world in 2018 to the number one top slot in the 2019 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards!
As many of you will know, we work really hard to make sure each and every one of our guests has a great time whilst staying with us and if we could control the other aspects of your stay too such as your meals, places you visit, the shops and the weather then we would.
It's always lovely when we hear the kind comments our guests write in their reviews but to know that they have then counted towards such an accolade is just wonderful. It must be one of the highest pinnacles we can reach - unless the Queen decides she's giving us a knighthood for services to tourism of course!
This doesn't mean we're going to stop here though. We've barely started. There is still so much we plan to do, it's just that time and lack of money usually restrict how much the two of us can achieve each year. Many of you will not have had chance to experience our new Smart rooms with an Amazon Echo now able to operate the TV, room and mood lighting, air conditioning and play music as well as all the usual helpful things it can tell you.
We are hoping that 2019 turns out to be a bumper year now, rather than the bumpy one we were expecting - Brexit is leaving many of us uncertain as to how the economy will be affected but I'm sure it will all work out in the end. The general feeling in the industry is that "staycations" will be on the rise, and a weak pound will encourage more foreign visitors. As least we're small enough to not have to worry about losing so many European staff like some of the larger hotels.
Please do raise a glass and toast our success this evening. We've worked incredibly hard to get where we are today but it wouldn't be possible without our wonderful guests, and you taking the time to review us.
We hope to see you all at some stage in 2019, but please do try and book up soon in case all the publicity makes us really busy. We'd hate you not to be able to get the dates you want or your favourite room.
